With the introduction of the protruded carbon we started to see the demise of the alloy shaft. Still factors such as straightness, splintering and the safety of this new product was always present.

Then we saw the wrapped shaft emerging with 3 layers in altenative directions. What a change for the better. Finally one company emerged in the USA as a major player with it's 5 layered shaft and that was Gold Tip.
